Jay Sidhu (born August 8, 1951) is the Chairman and CEO of Customers Bank, a $3.5 billion asset bank with headquarters in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Customers Bank has 14 locations in suburban Philadelphia, Hamilton, New Jersey, and Rye, New York. Customers Bank was ranked first among all US banks and thrifts by Bank Director magazine, based on two important growth areas: Core Income and Net Loans and Leases. The first three quarters of 2012 were used to compile this list. The ABA Banking Journal’s Annual Bank Performance Rankings rated Customers Bank #4 in the country out of 3,077 banks in 2010 for “[experiencing] one of the greatest year-over-year increases in earnings performance.”
Customers Bank (previously known as New Century Bank) was rated #3,002 in 2009 by the Journal, but rose to #4 in 2010. He spearheaded an investment in Atlantic Coast Bank (NASDAQ: ACFC) in May 2010 and now serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Atlantic Coast is a $900 million asset bank with 12 locations in northeastern Florida and southeastern Georgia. It is based in Waycross, Georgia. He is also the Chairman and CEO of Sidhu Advisors, LLC, which specialises in private equity and financial services consulting. He registered for his own $150 million SPAC, Special Purpose Capital Corp., in March 2008. He was the Chairman and CEO of Sovereign Bancorp (NYSE: SOV) and Sovereign Bank, a $90 billion banking behemoth, from 1989 until his retirement in December 2006. During his 20-year tenure at Sovereign, he helped the company grow from a $12 million IPO to a market cap of $1 billion.
